- One of the carriers, Tema Express, is owned and operated by Hapag-Lloyd – making this the first confirmed transit of the strait by a vessel operated by the German carrier since the start of the conflict, Rebecca Gerdes, a data analyst at Kpler, told CNN. It sailed under Libera's flag.
- The other ship that crossed the strait – LB Energy – is sailing under Panama’s flag.
This is notably the first confirmed passage for a ship operated by Hapag-Lloyd since the conflict began, suggesting possible easing of shipping restrictions or increased confidence in maritime security, which may influence commodity flows and risk sentiment in related asset classes.
