Start a Pro trial on a computer or tablet and the first thing Newsquawk asks is what you trade. Answer in your own words and it drafts a dashboard to match, designed to reuse the watchlists our desk maintains. You check the plan before it changes your dashboard.
Setting Up a Dashboard by Hand
Newsquawk covers equities, FX, fixed income, energy, metals, crypto and macro, with feeds, a calendar and research to choose from, and a library of watchlists kept by the desk.
A new account opens on a generic Home tab. To make it fit how you trade, you choose among these, build watchlists and lay out a dashboard yourself.
It Reads Your Answer and Drafts the Setup
In the In your words box, write how you trade the way you would say it out loud. We tried “I trade US tech and semis around earnings, follow the Fed closely, and want anything that moves crude”.
The plan reused desk lists including Mega-Cap Tech, US Semiconductors, Fed Speakers and OPEC & Oil Supply Watch. It combined Mega-Cap Tech, US Semiconductors and Earnings Season Movers into one watchlist, Tech & Semis Earnings, which catches a story that names one of those companies or uses one of the desk’s earnings phrases. It put six widgets on a tab called Tech, Semis & Crude: Headlines, Equities News, Economic Calendar, Fin X, Energy X and Truth Social, which every plan includes.
Press Apply this setup and it creates the watchlist and opens the new tab, which on a new account replaces the starter Home tab. Drafting the plan took about half a minute in our test and can take longer; the film at the top of the page is sped up.
What It Builds for You
Your Words and Your Tickers
Write as much or as little as you like, up to 2,000 characters. If you add the tickers you hold, they are saved as a watchlist called My Portfolio as soon as you continue; when you apply, it gets its own headline feed and is highlighted on the feeds that support highlighting.
Built on the Desk’s Lists
It is designed to match your markets to watchlists our desk maintains, such as Fed Speakers and OPEC & Oil Supply Watch, and to create new ones where nothing fits. The main Headlines feed is never filtered, so you still see every headline, and the plan can highlight your names in it.
You See the Plan First
Before it changes your dashboard you see every list it will reuse or create and every widget on the new tab. You can remove tickers or keywords from any watchlists it creates, go back and reword your answer, or pick a starter template instead.
Built When You Apply
Apply this setup creates the watchlists and the tab and switches to it; on a new account it replaces the starter Home tab. If you also ticked a market or added tickers, it can add a second ready-made tab, such as Equities Suite, which the plan does not show. After that it is an ordinary tab you can rearrange like any other.
