Deals in the tens of megawatts are modest relative to the large-scale campus commitments that have characterised the recent phase of AI infrastructure buildout, and a shift toward smaller tranches has in past capex cycles been read either as phased procurement ahead of larger commitments or as early caution around power availability, financing terms, or demand certainty. The distinction worth drawing is between genuine moderation of spending intent and simple sequencing, since hyperscaler and lab capex guidance has historically been revised upward more often than down once procurement begins. The transmission channel runs through the listed power, utility, data centre REIT and infrastructure names whose valuations embed multi-year capacity agreements, and the follow-ons that tend to matter are confirmed contract announcements, utility interconnection disclosures and any change in the labs' stated compute roadmaps.
