Sees Q1 services revenue growth of 8%-9%.

What it means

For Apple, the forward guide has historically carried more weight than the reported quarter, and a revenue growth range above consensus alongside gross margin a touch below expectation fits a familiar pattern: demand is not the problem, mix and cost are doing the work. The services line growing high single digits matters because it is the steadier, higher-margin engine; when services holds up while total margin guidance softens, the market usually reads it as hardware mix, product transition costs, or regional/pricing noise rather than a break in the ecosystem story. In prior Apple episodes, the initial move has often been set by the gap between revenue optimism and margin caution, then faded or extended depending on management colour around iPhone cycle timing, China, and services durability. The December-quarter framing makes the guide more sensitive than an ordinary period because it embeds the holiday hardware ramp and promotional intensity. The tell is whether call commentary attributes margin pressure to temporary launch and component factors, which tends to be forgiven, or to pricing and demand mix, which tends not to be. As a guide rather than a print, the signal is directional until the call separates mix from demand.
