Context

Mann has been among the more hawkish members of the MPC through this cycle, so the wage-price framing is consistent with her prior form and on its own tends to carry less repricing weight than similar language from a committee centrist would. Wage-price drift language is significant because it speaks to the persistence channel, second-round effects from pay settlements into services inflation, which has been the stated constraint on easing at the BoE and the argument hawks have used to resist front-loaded cuts. The distinction worth drawing is between a warning about risks and a statement about the current state: the former keeps the hawkish tail in play, the latter would challenge the easing path embedded in the SONIA curve. The transmission runs through front-end gilt yields and GBP via the expected pace and depth of cuts, with the belly of the curve more sensitive to how the median voter responds. The follow-ons are the next pay settlement and services inflation prints and whether other MPC members echo or dilute the framing ahead of the next decision. As commentary from a known hawk rather than a shift in the committee's centre of gravity, the signal is directional and secondary to the data flow.
