The RatingDog series is the successor to the Caixin private manufacturing survey, so the relevant comparison is against the official NBS PMI rather than the absolute print: the private survey skews toward smaller, export-oriented firms in coastal regions, while the official gauge is weighted to larger state-linked enterprises, and divergences between the two have historically been read as a signal on where momentum sits in the economy. A beat of this size keeps the index above 50 and accelerating on the month, which in past episodes has mattered most through the industrial commodities channel, iron ore, copper and the Australia and New Zealand dollars, and through China-exposed European cyclicals, rather than through onshore rates. The details of the release tend to carry more information than the headline: new export orders as a read on external demand and tariff effects, the employment subindex as a gauge of whether factory strength is feeding the labour market, and input versus output prices as a proxy for the deflation pressure that has characterised recent Chinese data. A strong private print alongside a soft official one has previously been treated as stimulus-positive rather than growth-positive, since it implies the divergence Beijing's policy support is aimed at closing. The follow-ons are the official PMI set, the services companion to this survey, and the monthly activity data where any survey strength either confirms or fades.
