Context

The most market-relevant threads here are the Trump-Xi state visit with CEO attendance, which historically has tended to be heavy on ceremony and light on binding deliverables, with any tariff or technology-control read-across usually surfacing in post-meeting readouts rather than the arrival ceremony itself; and the US-Iran engagement, where recurring episodes of optimism punctuated by unresolved disputes have tended to price a modest risk-premium fade in crude until talks stall, with Hormuz and the distillate complex the named transmission points alongside the proposed diesel export ban. On the corporate tape, the China data-security probe into domestic AI names follows the established pattern of episodic Beijing sector scrutiny hitting crowded positions first; the SoftBank multi-billion high-yield sale and the Apollo BDC redemption cap are the financing-side tells for the AI capex theme worth tracking across the curve. Earnings from KB Home, General Mills, Cintas and Paychex extend the recent read of rate-sensitive demand softness against resilient services margins. The calendar carries the API surprise build against distillate draws, the X arrival ceremony, and the DoJ press-access hearing as the session's scheduled checkpoints.
