The copper item is the most market-relevant: tariff decisions on refined metal of this kind have historically been telegraphed, delayed, and partially watered down, and the undecided status itself has tended to leave the US-LME premium and US producer names (FCX the obvious proxy) trading on headline risk rather than fundamentals, with prior episodes showing sharp reversals once scope and exemptions are clarified. The distinction worth drawing is between refined copper, which the administration is weighing, and semi-finished products or ores, since past measures in this complex have split by product category and the domestic manufacturing-cost argument cited here is the standard pressure point that has produced carve-outs before. The AVAV print fits the established defence pattern of bookings and backlog carrying more weight than the quarter itself. The session's calendar, existing home sales, a 30-year auction, the buyback, and EIA inventories, is the usual sequence for rate and energy desks, with the long-end auction the traditional tell for duration appetite after recent supply. Broker actions of this size (JPMorgan on META, Arete on UBER) typically fade within the session absent a thesis-changing call.
