EU Commissioner Sefcovic today's discussions with China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi were intensive, focused and constructive

Sefcovic says:

• Objective has been to start balancing trade between EU and China.
• Status quo is not an option.
• EU remains open for business, but needs to defend industrial base and keep pushing for a level playing field globally.
• Identified four strands: Trade and investment balancing, export controls, IP rights, and WTO reform.
• Thinks that between now and October, teams have sufficient time to deliver tangible results.
