EU Deposit Facility Rate 2.25% vs. Exp. 2.25% (Prev. 2.25%)
An in-line hold at the deposit facility rate is the least informative print in the decision set; the announcement itself rarely moves ESTR forwards or the euro beyond the first seconds, and the market's attention passes almost immediately to the statement language and the press conference.

On occasions of this kind the repricing has come from two places: any change in the description of the stance (whether policy is still characterised as restrictive or as neutral) and the guidance on the pace and conditionality of further easing, which moves the front end through the dated OIS strip rather than the spot rate. The case distinction that matters is between a hold framed as a pause within an ongoing easing cycle and one framed as nearing the end of it; the former leaves the terminal rate pricing intact, the latter flattens the path. Staff projections, when part of the package, have historically been the vehicle for that signal, particularly the out-year inflation forecast relative to target. The follow-ons are the press conference Q&A, the account of the meeting some weeks later, and the run of speeches from the more hawkish and dovish council members in the days after, which have tended to define where the centre of gravity actually sits.
