EU S&P Global Composite PMI Flash (Jul) 51.9 vs. Exp. 50.3 (Prev. 50.0)
Flash composite PMIs from S&P Global are among the earliest hard looks at eurozone activity each month, and beats of this size have historically repriced rate expectations at the front of the curve through the ECB-sensitive short end, with EUR and bund yields moving together on the growth signal.

The composition matters more than the headline: a services-led print with manufacturing still sub-50 has tended to fade faster than a broad-based one, since the former is consistent with the mixed picture that has characterised much of the euro area's recent cycle. The usual sequence is that the national flashes from France and Germany precede the bloc number, so much of the surprise is often pre-traded, and the aggregate print either confirms or extends it. Worth noting that composite readings above prior readings but built on soft new orders or employment sub-indices have, in past episodes of this kind, been revised in the final release. The follow-ons are the country detail within the release itself, the ECB speakers scheduled before the next meeting, and whether the survey's price components corroborate the activity strength, since it is the price balance rather than the output index that feeds the policy reaction function.
