Tour the PlatformThe flash print is the first read on euro area inflation for the month and historically the one that sets the tone for the rates complex into the next ECB meeting, with the final estimate rarely revising enough to matter. The level alone carries little information: the market trades the year-on-year rate and, increasingly, the core and services components, since it is services stickiness rather than headline energy effects that has driven the policy reaction function in recent cycles. National prints from the larger member states, which typically precede the aggregate by a day or so, usually give the direction away in advance, and the aggregate's surprise value tends to be in the core line. The transmission channel is the front end: a hot or cold read reprices the expected path of cuts or holds at the upcoming meeting rather than the long end, with the euro following the rate differential. Worth noting whether the release decomposes the move into energy base effects versus underlying services momentum, as the ECB has historically looked through the former and responded to the latter.
