Gas production in Iran's South Pars Phase 11 reaches 1bln cubic feet, IRIB reports

Phase 11 in particular has a well-known history as the project Western majors abandoned when sanctions were reimposed, leaving it to Iranian contractors, so any reported ramp-up there is a test of how far domestic capability has substituted for departed foreign technology. The market-relevant distinction is between gas produced for internal consumption, which frees up crude for export only at the margin, and any genuine exportable surplus, which Iranian gas has rarely been given pipeline constraints and heavy winter domestic demand. Iranian state broadcasters have a track record of framing output milestones favourably, and production claims of this kind have tended to warrant scrutiny against sustained throughput rather than commissioning peaks. The follow-ons of interest are whether the phase holds plateau rates, any effect on Iranian gasoil and crude burn, and the parallel Qatari expansion schedule on the same field. For crude balances the transmission is indirect; this is not a headline that changes seaborne supply on its own.
