Context

Final CPI prints in the euro area's larger economies are, by construction, a confirmation exercise: the flash estimate has already set the market's working assumption, and unrevised finals have historically been a non-event for Bunds and the euro, with any reaction confined to the rare occasions when the final round revises the flash. The German series carries its own weight as an input to the euro-area aggregate, so the substantive read-through runs through what an unrevised national print implies for the blended HICP rather than for German rates alone. The distinction that matters on inflation days of this kind is between the headline rate and the components: services and core readings have, in past episodes, moved the front end of the ESTR curve and ECB pricing where the headline has not, because they map more directly onto the Governing Council's stated reaction function. The in-line outcome leaves the established sequence intact: attention shifts to the euro-area aggregate, the next round of ECB commentary, and the wage and negotiated-pay data that officials have repeatedly flagged as the swing factor. Worth noting is the monthly acceleration from the prior print, though monthly German figures are seasonally noisy and officials have tended to look through single-month moves. As a confirmatory release, the informational content is low; the calendar ahead carries the risk.
