Context

Final PMI prints of this kind are a confirmation exercise: the flash estimate has already done the price discovery, and an unchanged final leaves Bunds and EUR to trade on other inputs. What carries information here is the step up from the prior month, which keeps the composite in expansion and continues the pattern of German activity recovering from the prolonged soft patch, with the usual split between a services-led composite and a manufacturing sub-index that has spent much of the recent cycle below 50. The composition matters more than the headline: a recovery concentrated in services has historically fed through to domestic price pressures and the services inflation the ECB watches, while manufacturing strength would speak to the export and industrial channel. In past episodes, upside revisions across the flash-to-final sequence in Germany have tended to matter only when echoed in the euro-area aggregate and in Ifo, which remains the corroborating German survey on the calendar. For rates, the transmission runs through ECB pricing at the front end rather than the long end, and a single in-line print has rarely shifted that on its own. The follow-ons are the euro-area final composites and the ECB speakers who frame whether this momentum changes the easing calculus.
