Half of Russia’s leading diesel-producing refineries have reduced output following drone strikes
Strikes on Russian refining capacity have followed a recognisable pattern through this conflict: the crude itself still moves, but the products balance tightens, so the transmission runs through diesel cracks and export flows rather than the outright crude price.

- The Kirishi refinery has fully shut after Ukrainian drone attacks, while Trump urged Ukraine to halt strikes on Russian diesel infrastructure
Russia has typically responded to refinery outages by curbing product exports and pushing more crude onto the water, which widens the crude/products spread and lifts refining margins for competing plants, particularly in Asia and the Mediterranean. Episodes of this kind have tended to show up first in gasoil timespreads and freight, with the crude market taking its cue secondarily. The added element here is reported US political pressure to halt the strikes, which introduces the question of whether the campaign's tempo is sustained; that has historically been the swing factor between a transient margin spike and a durable products shortage. Worth watching are Russian diesel loadings out of Baltic and Black Sea ports, any extension of export restrictions, and whether strike frequency actually declines. Classification carries some ambiguity between commodities and geopolitical, but the operative channel is the products market.
