An informed source emphasized that Iran's announced preconditions are the minimum confidence-building guarantees for the start of any negotiations with the United States.
According to this source, Iran's five preconditions for the American side include.
- "the end of the war on all fronts, especially Lebanon,"
- "the lifting of anti-Iranian sanctions,"
- "the release of Iran's frozen funds,"
- "compensation for damages caused by the war,"
- and "acceptance of Iran's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz."
Iran has also told the Pakistani mediator that the continuation of the naval blockade in the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman after the ceasefire has further strengthened the argument that negotiations with the United States are unreliable.
The emphasis on preconditions like sanctions relief and military engagements in the region signals a tough negotiating stance, which may prolong uncertainty in the markets, especially in oil and currencies tied to geopolitical risk. Such developments could influence the outlook for commodities and safe-haven assets if tensions remain high or escalate further.
