The operative distinction for crude is between announced arrangements and actual tanker behaviour: war-risk premia, freight rates and insurance quotes respond to whether laden VLCCs resume normal transits and whether underwriters cut Gulf surcharges, not to diplomatic statements alone. Past Hormuz scares have tended to fade from front-month pricing once uninterrupted flows are confirmed, but the tail risk premium embedded in call skew and timespreads has unwound more slowly than the headline bid.
