Italian PPI (Jul MM) 2.4% (Prev. 0%)
Italian producer prices are a second-tier release for the euro area; the single-country prints tend to matter only insofar as they feed the aggregate euro-zone PPI, which itself sits behind CPI in the ECB reaction hierarchy.

A sharp month-on-month jump of this kind from a flat prior reading usually reflects energy and regulated-price components rather than a broad-based pipeline shift, and that distinction determines how much weight the ECB-side read across carries: goods-pipeline pressure concentrated in energy has historically fed through to headline inflation quickly but faded, whereas pressure in intermediate and capital goods has been the stickier signal. On previous occasions, outsized single-country PPI moves have largely been absorbed as noise unless confirmed by the French and German prints in the same cycle. The follow-ons are the euro-area aggregate, the component breakdown for energy versus core goods, and whether national CPI releases in the coming weeks show any pass-through. As an input to rate pricing, this sits well down the list behind the flash HICP and wage data.
