Italian PPI MoM (Jun) M/M 0% (Prev. -0.2%)
Italian producer prices are a second-tier euro area release that rarely moves rates or FX on its own; the prints that matter for the ECB path are the headline HICP and core readings from the larger member states, and national PPI tends to be read as an input into the pipeline story rather than a standalone signal. The distinction worth drawing is between energy-driven swings in the PPI index and underlying factory-gate pressure, since headline Italian PPI has historically been dominated by utility and energy components that pass through with a lag, and a flat monthly print following a negative one is consistent with the disinflationary pipeline seen across the bloc. A move from a negative to a flat reading points to the pace of pipeline disinflation stalling rather than reversing. The tell for whether this gains traction is whether it shows up in the euro area aggregate PPI and feeds the ECB's goods-inflation narrative, and whether Istat's accompanying detail shows energy or core goods doing the work. As a single small economy print, the established pattern is little market reaction and rapid fading into the next tier-one release.
