Guidance of this kind from an individual MPC member on the National Bank of Poland's council is best read as a signal about the on-hold period rather than a fresh policy commitment; comments anchoring an unchanged rate path well into the future have historically come from members pushing back against easing expectations priced by the market. The transmission runs through the front end of the PLN curve and short-dated FRA and swap rates, where a longer implied hold flattens the expected cutting path, and secondarily through PLN carry appeal against regional peers such as the Czech koruna and Hungarian forint, where central banks have been at different points in their easing cycles. The relevant distinction is whether the member sits in the hawkish core of the council or at its margin, since the NBP has a history of split votes and public disagreement between the governor's camp and dissenters, and single-member remarks have tended to move markets only when they prefigure the majority view. Follow-ons worth noting are whether other council members echo the same horizon, the tone of the governor's post-meeting press conference, and the next inflation projection round, which has typically been the vehicle through which the NBP formalises shifts in its rate horizon. As commentary rather than a decision, the signal is directional only.
