Daily calendars of this shape are routine, but this one clusters event risk unusually tightly: the Fed's Jackson Hole symposium opening alongside a weekly claims print puts the labour market signal and the policy signal in the same session, a combination that has historically concentrated two-way volatility in the front end and the dollar, since a soft claims print landing against hawkish symposium commentary reads differently than the same print in a quiet week. ECB minutes tend to move EUR rates only when they reveal genuine internal division rather than re-argue a decision already communicated, and RBA bulletins rarely reprice the curve absent a shift in the bank's framing. Chinese industrial profits and German GfK are second-tier by themselves, but both feed the global growth narrative that Jackson Hole speakers will be speaking against. The speaker slate is thin, with a single BoJ official; Himino's prior form has been to flag normalisation considerations incrementally, which matters for the short JGB end rather than for the yen's broad trend. The sequencing worth noting is that the symposium runs over multiple days, so the opening day's moves have historically been prone to partial reversal as the chair's remarks later in the event reset positioning. As a calendar note rather than a release, there is no print to read; the information content is the clustering itself.
