Context

US CPI is the centrepiece and historically the highest-volatility print on the board for USD pairs, the front end of the Treasury curve and index futures, with the usual sequence being a sharp initial repricing on the headline versus consensus followed by reversal or extension as the core detail is digested. UK GDP the same morning sets up a GBP session before the US release takes over the cross-asset tape, a pattern that has repeatedly compressed sterling moves into the European morning. The Michigan prelim tends to matter only when its inflation expectations component deviates, in which case it has on past occasions moved the long end more than the activity gauges. ECB speakers clustered after a decision window usually deliver marginal rather than path-changing guidance, while the IEA monthly report is the scheduled supply-demand checkpoint for crude and tends to move Brent and WTI through the demand revision line rather than the headline. Kroger is a single-name consumer read; presidential remarks are the wildcard that has historically cut across the data calendar without warning.
