- Data: Japanese Inflation (Aug), German PPI (Aug), UK Retail Sales (Aug), US Industrial/Manufacturing Production (Aug)
- Events: BoJ Policy Announcement
- Speakers: BoJ Governor Ueda; ECB's Lagarde; Fed's Bowman, Schmid
- Supply: Australia
- Credit Ratings: Morningstar DBRS on France; Scope Ratings on France; Moody's on Germany
Policy decisions from the BoJ have historically carried outsized two-way risk for JPY and JGBs because the bank has tended to signal through incremental language shifts rather than discrete actions, making Governor Ueda's press conference as tradeable as the statement itself; moves have often come on guidance nuance rather than the rate headline. The distinction worth drawing is between the decision and the message: on past occasions the statement has passed quietly while the presser repriced the front end of the JGB curve and the yen crosses. The data slate is second tier by comparison, with German PPI and UK retail sales the kind of prints that move Bunds and sterling only at the margin unless they break trend. The French sovereign reviews are the other live risk: rating actions and outlook changes on France have in prior episodes widened the OAT-Bund spread when negative, with the effect concentrated in that specific spread rather than broader euro credit. The calendar next runs to the US session and the follow-through from Ueda's remarks.
