PBoC injects CNY 46.5bln via 7-day reverse repos with rate maintained at 1.40%.

What it means

Daily open market operations of this size are routine liquidity management rather than a policy signal; the information content sits almost entirely in the rate, which is unchanged, and in the net injection or drain once maturing operations are netted off, not in the gross figure. The 7-day reverse repo rate is the PBoC's main policy rate, so a hold keeps the easing bias intact without adding to it; cuts to this rate have historically been infrequent, telegraphed through guidance, and clustered with moves on the MLF rate and banks' loan prime rates. The worthwatching follow-ons are the mid-month MLF operation and the LPR fixings, which is where any actual rate change would show up, along with quarter-end liquidity conditions when gross injections tend to rise mechanically. For onshore rates, the transmission runs through money market benchmarks and the short end of the CGB curve; for CNY the effect of an unchanged fix is typically negligible. As a standalone print this is housekeeping.
