PRIMER - Today’s Fedspeak includes: Musalem

- 22:30BST/17:30EDT: Fed’s Musalem (2028 voter) will participate in a moderated discussion. When he spoke on policy in May, Musalem said policy is at or below long-run neutral and inflation risks remain elevated. He warned inflation may take longer to reach 2%, with a possible rate increase if disinflation stalls, while growth could weaken in H2. He favoured reducing reserve demand rather than shrinking balance-sheet supply. And speaking last week, Musalem warned that the recent US Treasury sell-off signals that the Fed must back its inflation-fighting rhetoric with rate rises; he told the FT that he expressed a preference for a 25bps hike at the July FOMC.
