Context

A final CPI revision that lands in line with expectations barely trades; in Spain the market-relevant print is the flash estimate released a fortnight earlier, and final rounds historically pass with minimal Bund or Bono response unless the revision breaks from the consensus. The operative content here is the year-on-year acceleration versus the prior month rather than the in-line number itself, since Spain has been one of the euro-area economies where the disinflation path proved shallowest, with base effects from energy and the rollback of fiscal support measures doing much of the lifting in comparable episodes. The transmission channel runs into the peripheral spread story only when Spanish prints diverge from the euro-area aggregate; an in-line final leaves the Bund-Bono spread to trade off the HICP print for the bloc and ECB communication instead. Worth noting is the composition when the detail emerges: services and food persistence has historically mattered more for ECB pricing than energy-driven headline swings. As a confirmatory print, the signal is that the flash estimate stood, and attention reverts to the combined euro-area HICP and any official commentary on the domestic inflation trajectory.
