Treasury Block Trades [Rolling Headline]
Block trades of this size are routine flows in the Treasury futures complex and are watched less for their own footprint than for what they signal about positioning at specific points of the curve.

- 08:27ET/13:27BST: 5.0k 2-Year T-Note Futures (ZTU6) at 102-300
Spread
- 04:25EDT/09:25BST: Bought 3.3k 5-Year T-Note Futures (ZFU6) for 106-120 & sold 1.6k Ultra 10-Year U.S. Treasury Note Futures (TNU6) at 110-160
The outright 2-year block is unremarkable in isolation; the more informative print is the spread trade, buying 5-year futures against selling Ultra 10s at roughly two-to-one notional, a classic belly-versus-long-end steepener or flattener expression depending on the DV01 weighting actually intended. Flows of this kind in past episodes have tended to cluster around dealer rebalancing, relative value accounts adjusting curve exposure, or positioning ahead of supply and data, and single prints rarely identify which. The distinction worth drawing is between directional blocks, which say something about rate views, and spread blocks, which say something about curve views and are the harder read. Follow-ons worth noting are whether similar spread flows repeat through the session, whether cash spreads in the 5s10s sector corroborate the futures signal, and whether the flow aligns with the auction and data calendar.
