Ukraine conducts renewed attack on an oil refinery in Russia's Sisran, according to Tasnim

Strikes on Russian refining capacity have been a recurring feature of this phase of the conflict and form a recognisable playbook: repeated drone attacks on individual refineries, partial outages, repair, and re-strikes.

Context

The channel that has mattered is not crude supply, which Russia has historically redirected when refining is hit, but the products side: damaged distillation capacity tightens diesel and gasoline output, narrows Russian refinery runs, and tends to show up first in product cracks and in Russian export bans or restrictions on domestic fuel. Episodes of this kind have tended to lift refined product markets more durably than crude itself, with crude reaction often fading unless export infrastructure rather than processing capacity is damaged. The sourcing is worth noting: an Iranian agency carrying the claim means confirmation from wire services and any damage assessment from satellite or Russian official channels is the immediate follow-on. A single refinery hit in isolation has historically been a marginal event; it is the cumulative tempo across multiple sites and any sign of export disruption at ports that has repriced the complex.
