US Dallas Fed Services Revenues Index (Sep) -0.9 (Prev. 6.6)

A rollover from expansion to near-contraction in the revenues line is the kind of sequential deterioration that matters mainly if it echoes across the other district surveys, since the regional Feds have tended to lead the national services prints only at genuine inflection points and otherwise mean-revert noisily. The distinction worth drawing is between the revenue headline and the accompanying employment and wage subindices, which in soft patches of this sort have been the components that feed through to the Fed's services-inflation read. Dallas district readings carry a sector skew toward energy-adjacent activity, so idiosyncratic swings in that complex have historically explained more of the variance here than in sister surveys. The follow-ons are the remaining district services releases and the national services ISM, where confirmation has been the established trigger for any durable move in the front end. As a standalone print, the signal is soft but low-conviction.
