US EIA Weekly Crude Production 13.798M (Prev. 13.861M)
Weekly production readings are the least reliable component of the EIA release: the series is modelled rather than surveyed, carries rounding within a wide band, and has historically been subject to material revision when the more granular monthly figures arrive weeks later.

A week-on-week dip of this size sits within the normal noise of the series and has not, on past occasions, been treated by the crude complex as a supply signal unless it persists across several prints or is corroborated by the rig count and frac spread data. The weekly print has at times also been distorted by storm shut-ins and pipeline outages, so the question is whether the decline is weather or operational rather than a genuine inflection in shale output. Within the report itself, the draws and builds in crude and products at Cushing and the Gulf Coast have consistently carried more price weight than the production line. Worth watching is whether subsequent weekly prints hold at the lower level and whether the monthly series confirms, since it is the monthly revision that has historically reset the market's US supply assumptions.
