US Kansas Fed Composite Index (Jul) 9
The Kansas City Fed composite is one of the smaller regional manufacturing surveys and rarely moves rates or the dollar on its own; its value has historically been as corroboration within the run of district Fed prints that precede the national ISM.

Readings above zero denote expansion, and the district's energy and agriculture weighting means the index has at times diverged from the national factory picture when commodity cycles run out of step with broader manufacturing. The established pattern is that a single regional print only gains traction when it breaks sharply from the direction set by the other district surveys in the same month, in which case it feeds into ISM extrapolations and, at the margin, front-end pricing. The follow-ons of note are the remaining regional releases and the national ISM, where the new orders and employment subindices carry the signal rather than the headline. As a low-tier release, the print is context rather than catalyst.
