US President Trump says extremely happy with the job that War Secretary Hegseth is doing

Newsquawk Staff ·

The Fake News, as usual, is spreading false and completely unfounded rumors. I am extremely happy with the job that Pete Hegseth is doing. Everything has been extraordinary, including our attack on Venezuela, where the result was accomplished in less than one day, allowing us to bring one of the worst criminals anywhere in the World, Nicolas Maduro, to Justice! Likewise, Iran, where the country has been decimated for the purpose of NOT ALLOWING IT TO EVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON, is going very well! Pete is highly respected within the Military, and has made tremendous improvements, including getting rid of DEI, and increasing recruitment to historic levels. This rumor was started by The Washington ComPost, one of the worst Media Outlets in the business, despite our telling them their story is completely FALSE. In actuality, I really believe their fake “reporting” is treasonous! President DONALD J. TRUMP

What it means

Statements of this kind, a principal publicly affirming confidence in a senior official against press reports of their removal, follow a well-worn pattern: in past episodes of this kind such endorsements have ranged from genuine backing to the prelude to a departure, so the declaration itself carries limited informational weight beyond confirming the reports exist and are being contested. The market-relevant content sits less in the personnel question than in the confirmation of active military operations referenced in the statement, covering Venezuela and Iran, since it is the operational tempo rather than the staffing drama that feeds crude, freight and insurance premia. Personnel churn at this level of a defence establishment has historically been a volatility event only where it signals a shift in policy direction; continuity in the policy line tends to neutralise it. The distinction worth drawing is between the denial as news and the operations as news: the former fades quickly, the latter sets the tone for energy supply-risk pricing and haven flows. The follow-ons are whether the reporting outlet stands by its account, whether further confirmation of the official's status emerges, and whether the tempo of operations in the named theatres escalates or holds. As a headline this is noise on the staffing axis and signal on the geopolitical one.
