APAC Stocks: Mixed

  • Asia-Pac stocks trade mixed as the prior day's rally and US-Iran peace deal euphoria petered out amid a continued lack of concrete details regarding the interim agreement and as market participants turn their attention to this week's busy slate of central bank policy decisions.

ASX 200: -0.5%

  • Index was led lower by weakness in tech, consumer discretionary and industrials, while participants also await the RBA rate decision due today, with the central bank expected to pause after three consecutive rate hikes.

Nikkei 225: -0.2%

  • Swung between gains and losses amid indecision ahead of the BoJ rate decision, in which the central bank is widely expected to raise short-term rates by 25bps to 1.00% for its highest level since 1995.

Hang Seng & Shanghai Comp: Hang Seng -1.3% / Shanghai Comp +0.1%

  • Chinese markets diverged, with the mainland just about kept afloat as participants digest mixed activity data in which Industrial Production topped forecasts, but Retail Sales missed and printed in contraction territory, while the PBoC continued its increased liquidity efforts.

US Equity Futures: Marginally lower

  • US index futures took a breather after the recent rally on Wall St, where the Nasdaq outperformed on tech strength, and the Dow printed fresh all-time intraday highs and a record close.

European Equity Futures -0.1%

  • Indicate a slightly lower cash market open with Euro Stoxx 50 futures down 0.1% after the cash market closed with gains of 0.7% on Monday.
