Another detail of a significant event regarding the structure of the Islamabad understanding▪️ A source close to the negotiating team, in a conversation with a Tasnim reporter, provided details of a significant event on the last day of the negotiations.

This informed source said: Clause 13 of the understanding relates to the fact that until some other clauses of the understanding are implemented, negotiations on the final agreement, i.e. the nuclear issue, will not take place.

He noted: Until the last day of the negotiations, clause 13 included clauses 4, 5, 10 and 11; clause 4 relates to the lifting of the naval blockade, clause 5 relates to the beginning of the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, clause 10 relates to the lifting of sanctions related to the sale of Iranian oil, petrochemicals and derivatives, and also clause 11 relates to the beginning of the release of Iranian frozen assets. Therefore, paragraph 13 indicated that if these four mentioned paragraphs (4, 5, 10, and 11) are not fulfilled, the negotiations for the final agreement will not begin.

This informed source emphasized: An important event that occurred on the last day of the negotiations was that, following Iran's follow-up, paragraph 1 was also added to paragraph 13.

According to this informed source, the important meaning of this event is that if war and any military operations, such as assassinations, etc., occur in Iran or the resistance front, including Lebanon, according to the understanding, no negotiations for the final agreement will take place and naturally the implementation of the memorandum of understanding (including the opening of the Strait of Hormuz) will be suspended in terms of Article 13.

This informed source noted: Iran intended from the beginning that if such events occurred, that is, if war or assassination or military operations took place, it would suspend any negotiations and respond in a reciprocal and proportionate manner to the actions of the United States or Israel; However, with the addition of paragraph one to paragraph 13, this issue has actually been clarified in the text.
