SoftBank (SFTBY) announced plans to enter AI server manufacturing in Japan from FY27, building an assembly base at the former Sharp Sakai plant site, Nikkei reports

- Output is intended for both internal data centres and external sale to government and corporate customers.
- The site will also house a battery production facility, targeting annual capacity of 2 gigawatt-hours by FY30, alongside plans to export finished products to the US market.
