Context
A two-tenths undershoot on core CPIF in both month-on-month and year-on-year terms lands directly on the Riksbank's own forecast, which is the comparison that matters for SEK: the bank sets policy off its projections, and deviations against them have historically driven the front end of the SEK curve more than deviations against consensus. CPIF excluding energy is the measure the Riksbank watches most closely for the domestic inflation trend, so a soft core print carries more weight than a headline miss of the same size. The pattern in past episodes of this kind is that a single downside surprise shifts the implied path only modestly, while consecutive misses have tended to pull forward priced easing and steepen the short end, with EUR/SEK the cleanest expression given the rate differential against the ECB. Swedish prints also carry a seasonal caveat: services and travel components have been volatile around the autumn months, and single-month core readings have been revised or reversed before. The follow-ons are the Riksbank's own rhetoric in the days after the print, any revision to its inflation forecast at the next meeting, and whether the weakness sits in domestically generated services or in imported and administered components, since the former is what moves the reaction function.
