Around seven companies are debating fresh capital raises in the US investment-grade bond market on Tuesday, according to a Bloomberg survey

- 19 hit the market on Monday, selling over USD 17bln in new debt.
What it means
A heavy forward calendar in US investment grade is a familiar pattern after a strong opening session, with syndicate desks historically quick to bring forward supply once a heavy slate like Monday's has been absorbed without indigestion. The sequence that matters in episodes of this kind is whether pricing concessions tighten through the day: successful execution at or inside talk encourages the tail of issuers waiting on the sidelines, while widening new issue concessions signals saturation and tends to thin the rest of the week's calendar. The distinction worth drawing is between refinancing-driven issuance and opportunistic or acquisition-linked supply, since the former is spread-neutral at the index level while the latter adds duration and leverage to credit curves. What is worth watching is the break-performance of Monday's deals in secondary, which has typically been the tell for how the following sessions clear, alongside how much of the weekly street estimate remains outstanding. Spreads in the long end of the IG curve tend to bear the brunt when volume clusters, with bank and high-quality industrial names dominating flows of this size.
