US to order 3,000 82nd airborne soldiers to the Middle East and plans to deploy Brigade combat team to support Iran operations, according to WSJ

• Decision to put boots on the ground in Iran is not made.
• A written order to deploy the unit, made up of roughly 3,000 soldiers, is expected in the coming hours, the officials said.

Axios also reported:

• A U.S. official told me the Command element of the 82nd airborne division has been directed by the Pentagon to deploy to the Middle East together with an infantry brigade consisting of several thousand troops. 
• This is another significant troops reinforcement in the region ahead of a possible ground operation in Iran.
