Greece to send two fighter jets and two frigates to defend Cyprus.
What it means
Greece's decision to send two fighter jets and two frigates to defend Cyprus signals an escalation in regional tensions, potentially impacting safety and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean. This move may invite reactions from neighboring nations and could affect sensitive markets such as oil and natural gas, heightening the risk premium in associated assets. Traders should monitor geopolitical sentiment closely, as this situation could lead to increased volatility.
